Today’s Thought:

Standing prayers are for blessings, thanksgiving, worship, and praise. Many churches practice standing during the reading of God’s word, communion and intercessory prayers. Seeing the church gather and stand at the ready of God’s word proves that there are Christians who honor, revere, and respect the Word of God.

In Mark 11:20-25, we see Jesus illustrate the importance of having faith–to have faith in God–when we pray. In verse 24, it states: “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” This means having a strong belief that God is able to accomplish things that appear most difficult with infinite ease, as the fig-tree was made to wither away by a word.

Do you enter into prayer with faith? Do you enter into prayer with confidence in God? Do you enter into prayer willing to wait? Do you enter into prayer asking for forgiveness?  In verse 25, it states: “Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your tresspasses.” The act of asking for forgiveness is a part of the Lord’s Prayer.

When you don’t know what to pray or the words to pray, pray the Lord’s Prayer.
