LIVE Streaming 101

Live streaming our Sunday Services has been a change that we have walked into faithfully in an effort to proclaim the Word to a larger audience beyond the 4 walls of our physical church. The hope of this course is to help identify, develop and broadcast (within your capability) the content you are already creating for Sunday worship services; sermons, music, children’s ministry, announcements, etc. With your hard work and dedication already happening during the week we can take the next step to understand how the world receives content in this Digital Reformation Age. This course will help your church and volunteers be set up faithfully for success in LIVE streaming your worship week-to-week.

Week 1 // The Stage
Focusing on streaming platforms and what to use.

Is Facebook really still a thing? (spoiler alert, yep.) YouTUBE, ChurchOnline, IGtv are all platforms that the church can use, the question is should we and what works best for you? We will walk through the benefits of each platform and how to get to each platform! We will explore pre-recorded LIVE and LIVE and what works best.

Week 2 // Create Community
Adding an emoji 👍doesn't necessarily create great community engagement.

We are all hoping for an online community of faith. Moving forward, it will not be sustainable to just “get the content out” we have to create community. We are in this for the long haul and so are the people searching for Jesus, we will explore how to move them to a deeper relationship with God through Sunday streaming.

Week 3 // SD, HD, UHD...how about GOD

The quality of video makes a huge difference because everything is HD now.

There are endless possibilities of what can be created because we can push record and pause and record again. The goal here is to understand your vision for content, set a priority and then bring that to life in the most efficient way possible. We will walk-through different video formats and shots that truly bring out the life of a congregation and how to use them appropriately.

Week 4 // God said, “Let there be light”

One of the easiest overlooked parts of Live Streaming, lighting the scene.

One of the most impactful ways to draw in a viewer's attention and create an environment that builds anticipation for the message is lighting. We will see examples of bad lighting, okay lighting and great lighting and talk about the elements used to create each. We will also walk budget friendly options for lighting.

Week 5 // Let the Trumpets Sound, please don’t use trumpets

Sound...Sound...Sound...not silence. We want to hear the voice of God.

Did you know there is research that people will watch a video that is not good HD quality, but they will not stay if sound is bad quality. God has created us to have finely tuned ears and we have spent our lives listening to the world, if your Live stream struggles to meet that then people will struggle to stay.

Week 6 // Blue’s Clues, Scooby Doo, Sesame Street and Jesus

Who are the fast consumers and creators of content today? Kids!!!

Wow, this one is absolutely necessary because these are the consumers of our content and they consume FAST! Kids Ministry is a different ballgame in a LIVE Stream and it's time to learn from years of great programming how we can get kids excited about Sunday.
