Asking for a Friend...

August Series

In this new series, we are asking questions that the church has heard before...A...LOT. We are asking questions people might be uncomfortable asking or you might have heard before and have wondered about yourself. Questions about then bible, going to church, baptism and what it means to be Christian.

August 21st

This week...

"What is Baptism?"

Seriously, what does Baptism mean though?
Yes, I have seen the pictures of people in a church in a horse trough or a pool-looking thing or some I saw in the river or the ocean and every picture is a church leader saying words like "Do you believe in Jesus?..." the person answering "Yes!" and then they are dunked backward, nose plugged under the water and they come up smiling and then walk away.

What just happened? What does this mean for the church and what does it mean for our relationship with God?
So many questions!

They are ALL GREAT QUESTIONS, this Sunday we break those questions down as our church prepares for Baptism.

Week 3

Week 2

Do I have to go to church to be a Christian?

If you have ever wondered if it’s OK to sit at home and watch church in your pajamas with a cuppa coffee while sitting comfortably on your couch that question will be answered this Sunday! We are asking a question that Pastor Joe gets asked often, “do I need to go to church in order to be Christian?“ You might have also heard it asked or stated, “I’m spiritual but not religious” or maybe you have asked before “ Are you non-denominational?”

Week 1

Is this a Bible Church?

Do you have questions about the Bible? Does the Bible contradict itself? Is the Bible without error? Maybe someone has used scripture as a means of judgement of your actions...is that how it is supposed to work? These are all great questions, and the Bible is meant to be a guide for our lives, but how do we know where to start, how to read it, and what to think about it?

OUR PASTOR

Hey there! My name is Joe Liles and I am the Pastor who planted The Neighborhood Church along with my wife, Jessica Liles, and 23 faithful people on Easter in 2012. This church was planted with a vision that you could fall in love with faith all over again every Sunday. Our hope was that your kids would have a place where they belong and feel so welcomed that they wake their parents up and say "let's go!" every week! It's true for my family too. Jessica and I have been married for 13 years and we have two kiddos, Caylee (12 years old) and Landen (10 years old). Caylee is an aspiring volleyball player and just starting out on guitar and Landen is a gamer that is working into wrestling and golf (interesting combo dude). We hope that we are able to meet you on an upcoming Sunday in worship!
